PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The task of this project was to illustrate and design a movie poster for a film, preferably a classic film, or a film over 10 years old. The finished poster is to be full color, using any medium of our choice, and include a recreation of the title. I decided to go with a favorite of mine – Ghostbusters II.

REFLECTION

As a fan of the Ghostbusters franchise since a child, choosing the sequel to the original movie was an easy decision. The comedy and creativity of the series allowed me to be flexible with my artistic style. For the colors, I decided to utilize a complementary color scheme of Pink and blue-green along with some muted gray blues for the outfits of each character.

I chose these colors because they represent integral scenes and objects in the movie. For example, blue-green is used because of the major scene with the Statue of Liberty, and the pink (though more intense) is based on the same slime from the film. The location of the image is almost a merger of 3 scenes – The sea of slime, Vigo’s possession of Ray Stantz, and the Statue of Liberty Scene.
The perspective was a bit boring in earlier drafts so I eventually transformed the landscape to give it more of a dynamic angle. The characters Egon Spengler and Peter Venkman are placed in the foreground based on importance and homage to the late actor Harold Ramis. The title/logo has been modernized and placed top-center intentionally, so the slime can interact with it.

All work Illustration & Coloring were done digitally via Adobe Photoshop, The logo/title was created on Adobe Illustrator
